WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 16, 2017) – Actress, author, producer La La Anthony will lead the 2017 Howard University Homecoming Parade as Grand Marshall.

The Howard Homecoming Parade will take place Saturday, Oct. 21, at 10 a.m., near Howard University’s main campus in Northwest Washington. The parade route will travel south along Georgia Avenue and north along Fourth Street. It will commence on campus at Sixth Street and Howard Place, pass the Le Droit Park neighborhood, and conclude near the reservoir.

“Howard has always been a significant part of who I am, from adolescence to my professional adult life,” La La Anthony said. “I continue to carry all the amazing lessons and experiences with me. This year, being the 150th Howard Homecoming, it feels great to come back and I am extremely honored to serve as Grand Marshall.”

In addition to recognition as Grand Marshall, Anthony will be featured at the Inaugural Ideas Festival held the same weekend. Anthony is the New York Times best-selling author of The Love Playbook (2015), and a fashion-and-cosmetics mogul whose presence in the film and TV industry continues to grow. She can currently be seen on STARZ Network's #1 hit show, Power.

Her film credits include the critically acclaimed Spike Lee film Chi-Raq, Think Like a Man, Think Like a Man Too, and Baggage Claim. On TV, Anthony co-starred in Unforgettable and had guest starring roles in NYC 22 and Single Ladies. She made her Broadway producing debut last year with the Tony Award-nominated Eclipsed, starring Lupita Nyong’o. Eclipsed made history as the first all-female, all-Black Broadway show.

This year Howard University will celebrate its annual homecoming with students, faculty, staff, community members and alumni from around the world. The week-long schedule of events includes something for everyone, including the Howard University Golf Classic, the incomparable Yardfest, and the Annual Day of Community Service.

Parade attendees are encouraged to sport Howard colors and participate as prelude to the Homecoming football game against the Morgan State Bears.
